Yes, of course we see the heart in the sand
The fact that it's not the only thing in the sand but is surrounded by chaos is a good touch imho (being the only thing would look too staged, and this adds a sense of inner turmoil)
Plus, the sea adds to the feeling of longing, so I'd say the photo hits exactly what you wanted to convey, and is actually very good at it
